Stowed away in the suburbs of Melbourne, artist Brent Rosenberg creates limited edition mixed material artworks. His studio, a sleek black structure with impeccable craftsmanship, which he had a large part in constructing, is reflective of a crafty hands-on artistic approach that shines through his artwork much the same.

“My studio is where I’m most creative”, Rosenberg says. “I love locking the door and spending the entire day creating”.

Known for combining digital and physical mediums, Rosenberg’s limited edition artwork series pulls inspiration from the worlds of art, fashion, and music.

“Behind all the layers of paint and digital aspects, there are hours of other mediums under there as well. A lot of the time - it only shows about 10% of what’s gone into the artwork.”

His recent run of portraiture artworks is centred around female faces, year on year gradually incorporating different artistic disciplines as his craft has evolved.

“The artwork starts off digitally, I create a face for the subject, which is then printed and has different aspects added to it” says Rosenberg. “Whether it’s painted, featuring gold leaf, pearls, crystals, any kind of medium that helps build the artwork.”

His compositions have gradually become more organic over the years, a reflection of his evolving skillset. Newer works lean more towards bold brushstrokes with complementary paint colours, set atop lifelike digital faces.
